Failed attempts to experiment with magic often result in transforming dragons into these hellish creatures. They are extremely dangerous, and will mindlessly kill any living creature without regard to friend or foe.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

People say that on some nights and ever only after the moon is at its highest peak, a dragon appears. Nothing and then suddenly, something is there. This phenomenon is what folklore refer to as Undead dragons. These dragons, if they are still indeed dragons, are bound to roam the earth, soullessly wandering at night, only to return to nothing at daybreak. Lifesbane, as its admirers call her, is a particular dragon that was sacrificed on All Hallows Eve as part of an ancient spell. What the spell was supposed to do, that is unknown; after that, Lifesbane no longer existed as a living dragon, but as an Undead. Nothing could be done for her. No one could do anything. Her name signifies the wretched nature of the spell that cursed the dragon. The destroyer of life. Lifesbane straggles among the world, lifeless.
