Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.
Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.
User Description
Hufflepuff Badger could have had a life, a wonderful life. Her beautiful scales could attract even the most self-absorbed dragon. She's the most beautiful dragon in her cave (though don't tell that to Elegant Glory) and her birth was even celebrated. After two male drakes, hopes of having any female drake babies was almost none. Then the beautiful, stunning, shimmering Day Glory Drake was born. Hopes of catching Deep Dusk to breed were small, but they were sure they could do it SOMEHOW. Back to why Hufflepuff didn't have her great life. All her chances were ruined by one little thing...her name. Who adores someone named "Hufflepuff," really! It's such a silly, stupid name...then there's the "Badger" part. Badger's, sadly, aren't the most honorable creatures. Dragons often call Hufflepuff "the puffly-huffly badger." Poor HufflePuff Badger. Poor, poor Hufflepuff Badger.
