Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

She went by the name Asseylum, but those who knew her best knew it was only a fraction of her full title: Asseylum Vers Allusia, Princess of Vers, a clan of proud dragons who spurned any associations with humanity and worked magic more powerful than those within the surrounding lands had ever seen. Such a position held great authority, but she ever rejected it, preferring to live her life with humility and kindness rather than force. It was this gentle nature that led her to befriend Slaine, a dragon from a human-bonded tribe that her own race had for so long looked upon with contempt. Naive to the hate and assumptions that kept their clans apart, the two shared dreams of peace, of a world in which all could live in harmony. It was for this reason that Asseylum one day decided to undertake a goodwill visit to Slaine's country, hoping to ease mounting tensions--and completely unaware that doing so would lead to a attempt on her life that would throw both tribes into all-out war.
