And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A representation of the limited influence a season brings as it passes on and opens the way into spring. Youthful Frost yearns to enjoy the cold still, if only for a little longer. Many attempts were made to preserve winter within the land, and the snow did cover the plains for a few days more, but the cold had to surrender to the coming of warmth at one point or another.

Green grass soon overcome white snow, the ice-encrusted trees giving way to the beautiful blooming of nature that naturally came with the new season. It thus proved that the cycle of seasons proceeds no matter the circumstances. It is a hard lesson for such a hatchling to learn, but a valuable one indeed, for winter will return to him soon enough.
