Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s so small and energetic that you’d lose it, if not for its dull luster.

And look! It’s gotten bigger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling loves to clamber onto other creatures, dive into their pockets, exchange a berry for whatever he finds there, and then scamper away while the victim of his attention is still in shock. He has accumulated a very diverse hoard from doing this, including everything from stale candy and trash to rare gems and magic items.

The berry recipient is never pleased by the exchange, especially as they commonly crush the berry in their pocket before getting it out.
