Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Noble Alt Curled di Pitchscale, known simply as Noble by his keeper, was initially shunned by the other dragons in the group for his slightly unusual looks. The female dragons in particular were somewhat afraid of him, as they had never encountered a black dragon quite like him—he resembled a mysterious and fearsome dragon from a legend that was often told to hatchlings when they misbehaved. However he was unofficially adopted by Little Mr Minty, who at the time had no offspring of his own, and was gradually accepted as part of the group by the other dragons. In fact he has proven to be very gentle, and can usually be heard telling stories to the hatchlings.
