Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kytes spends most of his time sleeping nearby the track leading to his families cave.  Because he moves so rarely, moss and other small plants have begun to grow upon his stony frame. In fact, he blends in so well with the surrounding mountains that many passers-by fail to realise that he actually is a dragon rather then a random assemble of boulders. This has often lead to the last words of several travellers resting on his nose being something along the lines of "Hey...this rock looks just like a dra.."<br/>He will occasionally, if pressed, go off in search of food for dragons guarding the cave and the surrounding areas, but only if he is accompanied by one or more of the caves hatchlings.  His idea is to give them plenty of experience in hunting, so he won't need to be bothered in future.
