Stinking Bishop is a full-flavored, ripe cheese with the appearance of very soft Swiss, and an unspeakable odor akin to that of a footballer's sweat socks after a championship match. This magnificent example of the cheesemaker's art was generally considered a shoo-in for top honors at the Gloucestershire County Fair, right up to the moment it bit the judge on the nose and escaped in a stinging cloud of its own powerful funk. These days, if rumor is to be believed, Stinking Bishop shares a small flat in west London with former comedy icon The Hound Who Hath No Nose.
