This hatchling appears to be... dead?

Perhaps not. It seems to be active during the night.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Drackin is a little oddball, to say the least. Even if he can't go outside and isn't very good at talking to anything that is able to comprehend speech, Drackin's ultimate dream is to become the leader of his dragon clan. He admires his frozen Frill leader for being able to pull together a mass of dragons and have them all live together in a giant mosh pit of peace and cooperation, and wishes so badly that he had the ability to do it himself. Drackin has many more setbacks other than just his lack of charisma however; such as his inability to stand in the sun without wearing a giant sunhat or lathering himself in Albino slime, and the fact that he must live off of blood to survive. He also is competing for the chance to be a leader against two other dragons, both of which are fully grown and fully capable of resisting a bucket of holy water. But fate is a funny thing, and perhaps someday Drackin will find the power to lead the clan that had taken him in despite his unholy matrimony.
