Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes garnets, but only certain kinds.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Garnets are the best! But ONLY the pink ones. Yet the others don't know this. They foolishly collect orange and red ones. It's like watching someone pass up a bowl of sweet fresh ice cream to go eat dirt, except A MILLION TIMES WORSE. After one too many nights of waking up, screaming, after yet another nightmare of her friends collecting icky colored garnets, she knew she had to take action. And so, while everyone else was sleeping, she promptly rolled every non-pink garnet in the entire clan off the cliff. Some may have mistaken the screeches the others made when they awoke as sounds of horror, but she knew in her heart that they were the sounds of sweetest joy.
