Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

FireoneFin is a Dorsal dragon. The huge fins on his back prove to be very useful on exceptionally hot days, when he raises them to cool his body temperature and other dragons (those who can fit) use them as giant umbrellas. Very large, even by dragon standards, FireoneFin is a gentle giant, often keeping Losara the Guardian company while she protects the new eggs and hatchlings. He is remarkably tolerant and good humored, the hatchlings often using him for mountaineering practise, clambering and jumping all over the Dorsal's back. At these times he keeps his fins lowered, preventing the younglings from being injured by the sharp edges. The smaller dragons in the cave- CloudFlare the Skywing, Kelarine the Mint, Antharic the Frill and Floatyzine the Balloon also like being around him as they know that he will not accidentally hurt them as the larger dragons tend to do.
