Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon... except for the tangle of dangerous-looking vines surrounding it...

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Aluve was found by Belayar in a blizzard one winter, and adopted soon after. But apparently, the snowstorm had frozen Aluve's ability to grow. Aluve was devastated for a time when (s)he realized this, because then, (s)he could not have a gender. What Aluve lacks in a gender, (s)he makes up for in logic. Aluve knows more about the earth than any other hatchling and or young adult. Except for, of course, Belayar and Fargus, Aluve is looked down upon like some creature that's wasn't meant to be a dragon. Even Dark Servant has made fun of Aluve sometimes. Belayar acts like a mother to Aluve, and cares for her-him like (s)he were her own hatchling. Belayar is the one who really and truly understands Aluve. Fargus just likes to learn and see what Aluve really knows about, and tries to understand her-him, but doesn't succeed.
