Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It glows with some form of arcane energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Aiyan is a mischievous hatchling. He uses his natural magical talent to levitate things at the most startling times he can manage. Birds flap away in a panic when made airborne without having taken off; squirrels chitter and scold until put down. Leafy forest debris rising up around anyone is at least distracting, and more than once has caused a traveler to get turned around and lost.

Most of these pranks are taken as harmless amusement. However, when Aiyan levitated a clutch of eggs around a nesting dragon, she moved about frantically and lost several eggs in the process. Rumor is that someone found the eggs and hatched them, but the mother was so angry she cast a spell on him that he would never physically mature until he grew emotionally mature enough to stop the pranks. Aiyan has remained the same size ever since.
