Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The Neophyte Redglare is an inexperienced dragon in all aspects. She hasn't been a legislacerator (really, a keeper of justice) for a long time, and knows not many of the laws governing their universe, or the way dragons act.

But she's talented. She's very talented. The Neophyte was rumored to be the one who brought the infamous dragon-pirate Marquise Spinneret Mindfang down to her knees, blinding her in one eye and cutting off her arm. It was done in one fell swoop, the story goes.

The Neophyte was sent to apprehend Mindfang after she had done unspeakably horrible things. Everything built up, and it led to Mindfang crawling away, severely injured.

Her mere talent as a legislacerator is what keeps her in her position, even though she's merely a common dragon, nothing rare or with any particular powers that would let her identify the truth or find out a culprit.

The Neophyte Redglare is what her title says she is—she's merely a neophyte, but she's talented.
