Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wolken was at one point incredibly vain. She was quite fond of looking at herself, and thus found a natural attraction to calm lakes and ponds, where she could soar above the still water and admire her glorious wings and graceful body. One day she saw a form that was not hers beneath the surface, and wheeled sharply in the air, barking a command for the intruder to face her. When the strange dragon slowly emerged from the lake, Wolken's harsh challenge guttered out, to be replaced with sheer longing. Meeren, as she came to know him, was the most beautiful dragon she had ever seen. Her self absorbed tendencies fell by the wayside as she fell deeper in love. The pair now see the world from new eyes, through both the placid current of the water, and the great expanse of the sky.
