Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very curious and fond of sweets.

And look! It has grown feathers! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The human known as Dimar who lives in a cottage within the clan's territory has one prized possession—her horse. Sweetie, magically frozen as an eternal hatchling due to an illness that would put too much strain on a full-grown body, is the only dragon that the horse seems to genuinely like (she seems to barely tolerate Dimar, most of the time). Sweetie's favorite spot to nap is curled up on the horse's back, and the mare seems careful to never knock the dragon off with her smooth and gliding gait.
