Coastal Waverunners spend most of their time skimming the waves along the coast, snatching up their prey from the shallow waters. They have developed markings along the leading edges of their body that help disguise them as breaking waves. When they are not hunting, they enjoy playing among sand-dunes and shallow tide-pools. These dragons live in small but noisy rookeries. Some stories say Waverunners can fly for days on end without landing.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Having been abandoned by her father before she had even hatched, Kue felt like an outcast; often overlooked as a child, she questioned her worth. When she came of age it was the same; though she tried to connect with the male suiters of her group, nothing ever came of it.

Kue had always loved hatchlings; they always seemed so innocent and carefree. In an attempt to begin building her self-worth, she put together a daycare of sorts for all the parent dragons of the valley; she didn't even care if the hatchlings were bigger than her, she did her best to command their attention.

Depression soon found its way back into her heart, though, and her work began to slip; she fell into a black pit of hopelessness. She was as if in a fog, and didn't take note for a moment that a grand Silver dragon had requested her to be his mate. Things were quite awkward at first with them, since he was still very young, but Kue couldn't even contain the joy she felt when she conceived her very first egg.
