Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Always one of the quiet, awkward dragons, Shinsaku found out as a hatchling that he had a talent for casting remarkably vivid illusions, strong enough to envelop multiple individuals within the same magically induced alternate world. Nowadays, his help is often requested by his Black Dragon guard siblings when they wish to run combat simulations without the risk of physical injury. At all other times, Shinsaku tends to be avoided by the team; his penchant of constantly generating illusions of the absolute worst-case scenarios has been known to stress out even the most resolute of commanders in the family. It also doesn't help that he enjoys analyzing the more upsetting illusionary scenarios he's fabricated, and considers that to be appropriate small talk.
