Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Malesyth has a rather sad story. Long ago, she and her mother lived in tranquility on the summit of a mountain until one day a group of dragon hunters attacked and maimed her mother, leaving her helpless, before her eyes.  The hunters kidnapped Malesyth, and sold her to a wealthy collector.  For many long years, Malesyth was kept in a pitch black cage, malnourished until she lost her eyesight.  When she had finally grown to her full size, she used all her remaining strength to escape.  Malesyth has a deep-rooted hatred for humans, seeking to one day obliterate humankind.  Hot-tempered and cruel, she gives no mercy to even the youngest child.  She has burnt entire villages and temples to ashes, and wont end her quest for revenge until no human remains on earth.  Needless to say, many dragon hunters have traveled to her cave in an attempt to stop her.  None have returned.
