Flamingo Wyverns are so named for their resemblance to the tropical birds with whom they often share territory. Their most striking feature is the bony black crest over their faces and snouts, larger in males, aiding both in digging up food and protection when fighting for mates. Males are duller in color than females due to their habit of wandering from nest to nest and picking from less algae-rich feeding grounds.

Clash!!! Fighting Crest's crest bashed against another male's crest. FC (Fighting Crest) let out a fearsome screech and clawed at the other male, feeling scales rip off and the hot blood of a dragon wet his claws. His huge black crest and bigger size out matched the other dragon but they still fought for the beautiful dragon sitting on the shore, watching this take place. She would soon choose which male would get to mate with her in the coming nights. FC sunk his teeth into the other dragon's crest, hearing the dragon screech in agony. He let go just in time to see the dragon's claws rake down his face. FC shook his head trying to clear his thoughts but suddenly the female stood up and walked over to him nodding her head. The smaller dragon scowled and flew away. FC had won his mate!
