Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

This hatchling, who goes by GA, was found by Whisperer as an egg because Silima Laurea, an Ochredrake like GA, wanted to find a male Drake to breed with. Silima Laurea was extremely disappointed when it turned out that GA was a female. So GA begged Whisperer to freeze her so that she wouldn't have to find a male Ochredrake for her as well, that way Silima Laurea could find her mate sooner. Whisperer granted GA's wish, and she is very happy to still be a hatchling.
