Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Most Sunsongs are content to live their lives flitting blissfully through the skies, serving as signs of good fortune and happiness. And this male would have been content to live such a life, too... if only his mate had not been taken from him. With his beloved in the grasp of a most vicious vampire dragon, he had little choice but to oblige the demon's dark orders--namely, drawing close to those who would never suspect violence from one of his serene breed, and then killing them in a flurry of crushing coils and vicious fangs. In this way many kingdoms fell, and the vampire came to rule over those whose lands he'd stolen... but when the Sunsong's dark mission had been fulfilled, he received not his wife's freedom, but her corpse.

Driven mad by loss and guilt, he lives a harrowed existence in the forests of the vampire's realm, embracing all pain he experiences as penance for the suffering he has caused to others... and dreaming of the day the vampire will fall.
