Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Algernon's Exuberance: The Energy of an Albino

Best friend and loyal mate of Narcissus's Metamorphosis, this dragon spends most of his time with that cursed Lumina dragon. The oil his pale skin produces aids in soothing her wounds from where she plucked her scales, and his quiet voice soothes her storm of self-loathing. While she sleeps, he guards her cave and gathers the prettiest flowers he can find so that she can wake up to a lovely sight. It has become common practice to find Narcissus with patches of rose petals replacing areas of missing scales due to this dragon's devotion. When he isn't attending to his mate, he commonly visits with Memory's Meticulosities, a speckle-throated dragon with severe social anxiety. He delivers food to her when she doesn't feel well enough to leave her cave.

Naturally, Algernon has come to be known as a healing spirit and selflessly pledges his time and effort to helping others, commonly forgetting his own needs. Narcissus reminds him, of course.
