Magma Dragons are capable of withstanding the intense temperatures of their element. They live in volcanic regions, their bodies coated in the red hot magma which clings to their scales. They must leave the lava fields in order to hunt, although they require surprisingly little food to sustain their lumbering mass.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Asher Emberglow, or Ash for short, is a young Magma Dragon. He is one of the strongest males in his clan, and is a good fighter because of this. However, despite this, he is kind of naive and silly, and always can be found hanging out with the hatchlings, telling them overly-exaggerated stories of his fights with other clans. Izar and Sapphiro, his teachers, always tell him that it's not a good idea to randomly challenge stronger clans to fights, but he shrugs it off, as he considers himself "the most awesomest dragon ever". He has no fear of human children, but is absolutely terrified of human adults, as one once tried to kill him when he challenged him to a fight. He collects anything shiny and has a huge collection of tinfoil and pieces of glass, and once tried to steal one of Silvie's scales (resulting in her attacking him). His mate, Stormy Thunderwing, never brags, and is a lot smarter than he is, so they even each other out in a way.
