Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jolta is memorable in the tribe because of his outrageous horns. His horns are very curly and look as if someone had taken them in their paws and twisted them around for fun. In all honesty, they don't make much of a difference to his overall appearance, but they made his childhood miserable. His siblings were always jealous that their brother had been born an alt, so they constantly teased him about his lack of light scales, small size, and funky horns. They called him 'Kudu', which is the name of an antelope they had once seen with horns identical to Jolta's. Now that Jolta has grown older and more respected within the tribe, he treats his nickname as a kind of badge of courage and formally calls himself Jolta of the Kudus. He thinks it makes him sound more fierce, as most dragons don't know what a kudu really is.
