Waterhorse Dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons and enjoy playing with humans.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Laura has always been a silent helper.  If she knows a dragon is going hungry due to bad luck hunting she will leave a small pile of fresh fish behind them and leave.  At the cave there is a rumor of a "friendly ghost" that helps those in need. It's what she did on a stormy day in the spring that got her recognized as a hero.  The rain was pouring down and water ran down every slope.  Orion's young son, Alex was playing outside when the rain came down all of a sudden.  The ground quickly became very slippery and he slipped when he tried to walk back home.  He rolled down the slope until he fell in a shallow river and would have drowned if not for Laura; she came up from under him and carefully walked him to Orion and his wife Serina—both were worried what happened to him.  They were extremely grateful to Laura for her actions and Serina hugged her in gratitude, holding back tears and whispered "thank you".  To this day, Laura has never been more proud of herself.
