Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is so full of energy that you have a hard time keeping up with it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Luspurim is a cheerful, bouncy, and honestly rather annoying hatchling. She has a great fondness for silly puns and practical jokes, and is of the opinion that grown-up dragons are a dry and boring lot. When told that she would eventually become one, she reacted with horror and pleaded with Carnie to cast the spell that would let her stay forever young. Now she enjoys her eternal childhood to the fullest, and has no regrets about anything (including the fact that she won't have to choose a mate from 'one of those icky, germy boys').
