Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nashira Endur has made it in to the great guardian clan Endur, but is getting very close to being banished. Isis Endur, the great leader herself, has talked to Nashira about her behavior but it has not improved. Nashira believes herself to be the best dragon in the world. She can do anything she wants. She picks fights with other dragons for the silliest of reasons. Often the Elders are forced to interfere with the fights, as if they had enough to do! No one can stand to be with her for more than a few minutes. However, Nashira might not be as bad as she seems. Sometimes at night, high in the trees, other dragons hear her crying. No one knows why and Nashira refuses to admit it. It might be something about her past that causes her to be such a horrible dragon.
