Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Patagium Streak is the resident artist on the island home of Shield Tail and Dark Drakon's dragon herd. His artistic nature is so strong, he is not content in having his creativeness restricted to summoning up auroras in the winter months. As a result, he often can be found using dyes made from berry juices to paint the walls of his personal cave. While some of the more serious-minded dragons in the herd worry that Patagium Streak will eventually start painting all the other caves once he runs out of room to paint in his own, no one knows that this dragon is secretly searching for spells that would enable him to go beyond the innate gifts of his breed and gain the ability to create rainbows in the spring and summer months.
