Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After a very dark youth spent under the "care" of a dark and twisted human, Romanov was not much of a Guardian dragoness. She had learned to kill rather than to maim and to do as she was commanded rather than protecting others. When she met the Guardian Fury, Romanov was facing a problem she couldn't kill for the first time in her life, not only because the other Guardian was extremely competent, but also because he had others fighting with him, covering his back. Romanov decided to take a chance when Fury invited her into his clan and hasn't regretted that choice since.

She prefers to keep to her own and the terrible things she did still haunt her, but Romanov is extremely loyal to Fury and through him to the whole clan. If anything should ever threaten one of them, she would willingly do things she hasn't done in years, simply because no dragon here would ever ask her to do them.
