Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlike the high child mortality rate in Akermind, Ka'ani is the sole surviving child of his parents' children. His siblings all had died when young, so his family treasured him and spoiled him with all kinds of things.

He became not that entitled to what his past might expect, but a down to earth dragon that only speaks the true facts.

His spotlight with his parents was mostly dimmed by Umiyuri- another tinsel that caught the eye of his mother, and the two formed a close bond that was akin to a mother-son one.

He has since had more respect for his father, a warlord who commands the Akermind army.
