Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mrazene was the first frozen hatchling in the clan and for many years she remained the only one. She had placed herself in this predicament when she was attempting to teach herself magic. She accidentally cast an anti-aging spell on herself, causing her to remain a hatchling forever. Deciding to make the best out of life, she made friends with the other hatchlings, but she lost them again once the hatchlings matured. This vicious cycle continued until Kusum Bala, her adoptive sister and best friend, became the second frozen hatchling of the clan.
