When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gentle Nuzzle is one of the few water dragons who wish to live in the ocean and travel the world, but unfortunately he was born in a landlocked lake that is getting a little crowded. He lives in a small lake that borders the cave with three other water dragons. The three other dragons are from the same family and are completely hostile to each other. He often gets caught in the middle of one of their unpleasant family arguments. To make it worse, he is constantly teased and tormented by Waking Nightmare for his fantasy of traveling the world. A small river that flows down to the ocean runs into the lake, but it is to small for a water dragon to swim down, but still he has tried. On more then one occasion he has got himself stuck on land in attempt to flee his constraining circumstances. After he is rescued by one of the other dragons, Waking Nightmares teasing tends to increase exponentially after one of these incidents.
