Frostbite Dragons first appear at the beginning of winter, creeping in with the frosts. They have found their place in human lore as the spirits of snow, since they only reveal themselves during icy weather. In the depths of winter, they cover the world in blankets of snow and are believed to be responsible for the glittering frost that creeps over everything. Although they appear cold and distant, they are actually rather mischievous and enjoy spending time dancing through blizzards.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As the first Frostbite dragon to be brought into her owner's cave, none of the other dragons knew quite what to make of her. A fairly well-behaved hatchling, she enjoyed using her affinity for ice and snow to make icy slides and snow piles for the other youngsters to play in. The grownups didn't mind this, so long as everyone involved played safely and didn't get in the way. One day, however, she lost her concentration for only a moment and another hatchling accidentally got a blast of ice in its face, severely wounding it, but it did survive. Horrified by her actions, she fled into a deep and uninhabited area of the cave and swore to never again use her powers. A kingdom of isolation, and it looks like she's the queen...
