Rosebud Dragons are a fun and social breed found most often in the spring. The petal-like feathers that grow on their sides spread their sweet and floral scent. Although they have poor eyesight, they have ribbon-like extensions that extend their olfactory abilities to help create a map of the area around them. When flying, Rosebud dragons tend to hover, using their wings to fan their scent throughout the air. A widespread breed, they go to great effort to visit as many flowery fields as possible.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Irene is a Rosebud Dragon. She was the second hatched of the twins, and that very much annoyed her. Irene is beautiful in a different way than her older sister, Katrina. Though her physical beauty does not match Katrina's, Irene's is magnified by her intelligent and intellectual nature. Full of questions, Irene broods over the happenings of the world. The only dragon that truly connected with her on a deep level was Dameon, the eldest Sweetling dragon. Choosing to become partners for life, they share a deep bond and an incredible loyalty both ways, unlike Katrina and Roran. A combination of the fact that she had Dameon and that she matured first took away her jealousy of flighty Katrina. Irene is content with her life and very happy.
