Storm Dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Tempest Gokudera is similar in many ways to his namesake: he is headstrong, stubborn, hot-headed and quick-tempered, with a dangerous habit of igniting storms whenever his temper goes out of (his) control. As such, he always clashes with Rai-hime; fortunately for Firerubynat and the other dragons, the significant distance between their living quarters ensures they don't meet often. Ironically, though, he gets along very well with Shindou Hikaru (Rai-hime's mate) and often backs him up in fights as a sign of his loyalty (a.k.a. friendship, though he'll never admit it). He is also the only dragon so far that puts up with the mental shouting matches involving Shindou and Toya Akira in order to occasionally play a strategy-based game with them; as he puts it, "Sometimes sacrifices have to be made in the pursuit of knowledge". Additionally, he knows that there are other Tempest dragons out there; one of his well-known goals is to seek them all out one day...
