Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Audrat was named after the spoken saying, "Aw drat" when a villager muttered the two spoken words. Audrat was a black dragon that was young at heart, and always got herself into trouble with the villagers by burning their homes for fun. Black glossy scales covered the dragon. Horns were sharpened for battle, like most black dragons. Claws matched the horns and tail was long and flexible. Wings were twice as large as the body, covering the whole dragon if she was willing to do so. Her eyes challenged the sun, almost. Every villager feared her coming when the sun runs over the hill. Night was her ally. She used it well.
