Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Tranzlater uses her telepathic ability to translate ideas between two beings that would normally not be able to converse. Sometimes she uses this ability for profoundly beneficial aims, such as peace treaties between warring bipedal factions. Other times, particularly if she's annoyed with one or both of the parties, she will mistranslate. In one negotiation, she caused an annoyingly whiny ambassador to take off his footwear, wade in mud and put stripes of the mud on his face by telling him the other side demanded it as a sign of respect; when the other side questioned it, she told them it was a religious rite he followed. She is a perfect example of why one should never blindly trust voices in one's head.

     Tranzlater has interrupted hunts by broadcasting the prey's worries to the hunter, helped lovers arrange trysts, tricked thieves into traps, and issued warnings of fire to denizens of the forest about to blaze. She is generally very helpful but prone to pranks.
