Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Daisuke joins Piro in a small group of dragons that were named in the memory of a lost one. He is not particularly social, and often doesn't grace dragons other than Amethysto and Piro with his presence. Like Amethysto, he was gifted with a voice that was unusually beautiful, especially for his kind. Though they share similar interests in song, the two have very different styles. While Amethysto sings hauntingly beautiful arias to match the rising and setting sun, Daisuke sings strange requiems that seem to echo some kind of inner chaos. His songs, though not especially popular among other cave denizens, nonetheless capture listeners and will them to listen to the poignant dirges for which he is known.
