Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Batspit is noted, not for the protective way in which most Luminas guard their scales, but for her blatant insanity. While she croons over her beauty the same as anyone else of her species, she is swamped by irrational fears. Her defensive paranoia reached a point where she obsesses more over fending off others than maintaining her appearance. Still Batspit keeps her delusional self into believing her beauty is unmatched, unable to see the small scratches and occasional dirt caked across her scales--things that have long ago drove her from flocks of other Luminas. Whenever someone so much as glances at Batspit, she flies into a rage, convinced that their jealousy had driven them to in some way steal her beauty. For this reason she buries her scales with each shedding, protecting the pretty fragments from anyone with less than honorable intentions. Throughout her exploits Batspit has earned a reputation, enough so that anyone acting irrational is often referred to as "Batspit insane".
