Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has large frills on its head.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Snotnose got her name from the constant dangling of mucous from her snout. She's a sickly dragon, and has been since she hatched. She's always getting colds and fevers. It doesn't help matters that her favorite activity is to go out when it is raining and splash around in the puddles. Snotnose drives the white dragons of the cave to distraction, but no one has the heart to stop a sick hatchling from having what fun she can.
