When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Y'ni lives in a dying lake next to a lively city, her city. Long ago, she was the only creature for miles. Then, a traveler collapsed by her lake. Y'ni had never seen a human before.

She nursed it back to health, and sent it on its way solemnly. She would miss it.

Months later, humans started showing up at her shores, led by the traveler she saved. She was delighted. She helped the settlers when she could, giving resources graciously. The settlement grew into a modest city, with the explorer Y'ni saved as mayor.

The wildlife in the area soon grew scarce. Things were grim for Y'ni.

She and the explorer she saved had grown close, and he recognized the danger she was in. He brought a Magi dragon, Xuras, to help his friend. Xuras has been using his magic to transport her to a nearby lake to feed and back, per her own wishes. She has not been seen much since her lake started dying. However, baskets of fish are still found on the shore, along with the occasional bright orange egg.
