Despite their great size and strength, Celestial Dragons are a peaceful breed named for their spectral, starry appearance. Little else is known about them, as they spend the vast majority of their lives partially phased out of the plane of existence through the use of powerful magic. Celestial Dragons are thought to assume their corporeal form only long enough to reproduce or to die; the rest of the time, they resemble living, breathing constellations, impervious to all physical and magical harm.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Heavenhunt didn't used to pay much attention to the affairs of the corporeal dragons. He mainly dwelt with other Celestial dragons in the plane of the aether, ignoring the land of the corporeal.

Once each year, the Celestial clan of dragons corporealize for their ceremonies of life and mating. This ritual used to be respected by the dragons of the Old Featherwing Weyr. However, since Flameflow's war against all dragons of impure or imperfect bloodline, this holy Celestial day can only be held upon Aurax's Eye, a peak so high above the Eastern plains below that Flameflow's sentries can't detect the corporeal Celestial dragons.

Heavenhunt dislikes the result of the Celestial clan's vote: they would ally with the Cities of Snow and Cloud to protect their way of life. He feels that the Celestials should have tried to launch an attack on Flameflow, to fight with their magic and defend the Celestial rite of corporealization. Their great magic seems useless if it cannot defend their history.
