Pecan is a Pekin Bantam and the beloved pet of a young Neglected, Gogmazios, a sufferer of hemiparesis. She was given to the dragon as a sympathetic gift after he expressed strong interest in adopting her, but was unable to make a trade.

Pecan travels far alongside her owner, tied to the dragon's left forearm by a leash that enables quite some free range. She will alert Gogmazios of possible danger via frantic clucking and pecks on the wrist and Gogmazios, though comparatively weak to most dragons, is highly protective of his chicken and valiantly defends her should something threatening arise. In turn, Pecan assists Gogmazios with finding food and keeping him warm at night, huddling up against his chest and between his arms not unlike a soft toy, as well as providing him with company day in, day out.
