Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s already quite large compared to other hatchlings, and appears to like roughhousing.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Somewhat smaller than her siblings, Bolov makes up for her physical deficiencies through being mentally cunning. As fond of fighting as any other of her breed, she wins her battles by tricking opponents into pitfalls, setting up ambushes, and using copious amounts of blackmail as needed (at which point physical violence is no longer really necessary, but she likes to give them a few good smacks to the snout all the same). Accordingly, her siblings have come to respect her as not only their equal in the arena, but as their superior--most of them quaver at the mere thought of dueling her!
