Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Mister Hatch Stop used to have a wonderful job. Kanaye would find eggs that no one else wanted and give them to him to take care of until they were ready to hatch. Then, as Kanaye searched for a loving home for each new hatchie, Mister Hatch Stop would play with them. Telling them what they had to look forward to, guesses on what kind of home Kanaye would find for them, if they would grow up and make hatchies of their own or stay young, forever like Mister Hatch Stop himself.

Then, one day, it all stopped. There were no more unwanted eggs showing up, no more hatchies alone in the world except for Mister Hatch Stop. No one to rely on him. He missed that feeling, of being relied on and often created a fantasy world of his own. One where little newborn hatchies looked up to him, hope in their eyes, trust in their hearts.
