And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.
When MessengerDragon picked up this egg from the pile of unwanted dragons, she was amazed to find it weighed exactly 5 grams! He continued to weigh the same even when he hatched into a cute albino. The nickname stuck, so he is still called 5grms. He really enjoys meeting new hatchies and playing with them, so 5grms asked his owner to cast a spell which would keep him young. MessengerDragon tried, and it worked. Therefore 5grms is happy to say that he can keep seeing hatchlings as equals, and make them feel welcome in the cave.
