Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Perniger is a member of Quator's band of rouges. He is the beta male, and is also currently without a mate. He was born into Luna's clan but was kidnapped by another rouge during one of Quator's raids. He was raised to believe that he was one of the "good guys" and that Luna's clan were the bad guys. He swore his undying loyalty to Quator, and is one of her best fighters, because he still believes that he is fighting for justice, and for the good side. He does not realize how he has been decieved, or that he is nothing but a handy tool for Quator. He was the leader of the raid that killed Solum's family. He had been told beforehand that Luna's clan had been "stealing" food from the mountains, and the rouges needed it back. He still thinks to this day that he is a hero because of that very raid.
