Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Plainsrunner is an overly happy-go-lucky Whiptail who spends a large portion of his time simply running amongst the plains and gentle slopes near the home cave. Although able to fly, he very rarely does so; even if it means taking much longer than usual to arrive at his destination, Plainsrunner will nearly always travel by foot. He takes great joy in racing with his mate and son, and is determined to imprint upon the hatchlings of the cave that being able to run effectively is just as important as being able to fly well. Plainsrunner doesn't often associate with his siblings, as none seem to have the love for the open fields that he and his family share. However, he is always willing to lend a hand in the cave, usually cracking half-true jokes pertaining to how much he'd rather be racing.
