This hatchling could hardly be considered cute.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

All the dragons are appalled by Black Marrows in general; repulsive body odor, grotesque visage, and a general lack of manners contribute to their unpopular status. However, even more offensive to the cleaner-smelling dragons is a tiny, writhing bit of red skin and bones. Even the most maternal dragons avoid this hatchling. The biggest tragedy, in the opinion of the mannered dragons, is that this is one bit of terrifying un-cuteness that will never grow up to be a marginally more bearable Black Marrow; it remains forever a screeching, demanding nightmare of a dragon child.

Fortunately, the hatchling doesn't really care as long as it's kept fed with pizza and cookies.
